Volunteer update

I just got this message today regarding an opportunity to volunteer in Atlanta, GA. Please pass this message along if you have friends in Altanta that want to help the Hurricane victims.
*********start of announcement*******
Atlanta City Refuge
1300 Simpson Road
Atlanta, GA 30301
(404) 644-6976
Located downtown; when you reach the corner of Northside Drive and
Simpson Road (not far from Olympic park and the dome), turn onto Simpson and
go a mile or so. It looks like a school bus yard at this point.
IMMEDIATELY, they have an URGENT need for volunteers — hands on volunteers
for as many hours as you would like, 24/7
The center director said they especially LOVE youth group volunteers because
young people have so much energy and willingness to lend a hand. (please
spread this news to youth groups in your life)
Jobs they need done asap:
* Sorting clothing that is being donated to them
* Sorting other supplies people are dropping off
* Sorting items coming in by tractor trailers from outlying areas
* People to prepare food
* People to serve food in the food lines
* People to entertain the children — giving them something to do on
the premises
This afternoon the center is setting up 250 cots for this evening's
group who are over at the Grady Hospital for medical check-ups and showers.
Buses will be bringing them into the shelter very soon.
Items they need donated asap:
* WATER
* Juices for the children
* Brand new undies for infants, children, adults young and old.
* New or very gently used socks, pajamas, sweaters, t-shirts, shirts or
tops, pants, shorts, light jackets, large dresses, shoes, flip flops
* Toiletries (thank you everyone for taking toiletries to Corp Square
Bldg 10)
* Tooth brushes, tooth paste, combs, brushes, denture cleaner/denture
cups
* Walmart gift certificates
They would also appreciate having
* Cards and games for children/adults to play — to help relieve the
stress
* Jump ropes for the children
* Adult and children's books, NIV and KJ Bibles, magazines, coloring
books/crayons
* Temporary jobs that the victims could do to earn money for their
families

You know you’re hooked on blogging when…
You know you're hooked on blogging when…
You can't wait to get home from your "day off" in order to blog about it.
You watch a movie and you go, "How can I tie this in to my blog?"
You're on a bad date and you go, "Well this sucked but at least I've got some good blog material."
You get bad service and you say, "Well that's okay, I can just put a rant about it my blog, that will teach them to give me bad service."
Just some food for thought.

Need Gas?

Given that gas prices are at an astronomical rate these days, I felt compelled to share this website, http://www.atlantagasprices.com with you. It lists the cheapest prices in Atlanta. If you are in a different city, you can just type in the city and then the prices will come up for your city. I hope this helps someone out.

Heres a way to help through the Church of Christ
Here’s another way to help the people in New Orleans.
This organization is affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Even if you’re not affiliated with the Church of Christ, please use this resource if you’re interested in making sure that your money will actually go to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Thanks so much for your help.
