Heyward done put us on front street…

I know I need to give you guys the notes from yesterday’s revival. They’ll be up later today. I’ve got to get some sleep. You know you can’t argue with TWO preachers. It seems as though Bro. Lee enjoyed the singing on Sunday so much that he requested an encore. Now normally, The Golden Voices don’t do last minute performances, but Tommy made an exception this time. So if you missed Sunday, you get another chance to hear some great preaching AND singing. Notes later today! I promise.

Giving up on nofollow, noindex for now

I’m giving up on this nofollow crap right now. I still don’t understand why they put that in as a default. It doesn’t stop comment spammers at all… Oh well. Less programming, more blogging. I’ll deal with the programming lessons after I move and get settled.

Still working out the bugs…

Bear with me on this transition.  I’m still working out the bugs.  Right now the archive doesn’t seem to work right.  As soon as I figure something out, I’ll provide you with the older posts.  Until then you’ll only be able to see my recent posts on here.  I’m going through a move right now so it will probabbly be a few weeks before I can figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Career Fair Hosted By CareerBuilder

Here’s some information I got regarding a career fair in my email box.  Now personally I think career fairs are a waste of time as I’ve never gotten a job as a direct result of attending a career fair.  However, I do think that career fairs are an excellent place to network and collect information about companies that you want to work for.

Days 1 and 2 of the Spring Revival at West End Church of Christ (warning religious content)

I was so tired from yesterday that all I could do was come home and go to bed so I didn’t get to post my review of Day 1 of the Revival so I decided to combine Day 1 and Day 2.

If you missed Day 1 you really missed some good ole fashioned “Chuch”. Bro. Gerald Lee, Sr of the South Union Church of Christ in Houston Texas delivered a powerful sermon on Sunday Morning. Bro. Lee is using examples from the old testament to show how easy it is to fall away and what happens when you don’t turn 100% to God. You can order a copy of the CD by going to West End Church of Christ‘s website. Be sure to ask for the 10:45AM service on 04/22/2007.

After we had a delicious meal and an abbreviated service(everyone was full and suffering from that “itis”), the Gospel Messengers and the Golden Voices(which I am a part of) sang. Then I went home and collapsed and didn’t get up until the next day.

Tonight, Bro. Lee treated us to another stirring lesson.

Notes follow (there may be misspellings here, these are old testament names after all)…

“Almost Revival”

2 Kings 12:1-3

Things Israel were guilty of at that time in their history.

1. “Follow the Leader Faith”

As long as the faithful leader was alive everything was fine. As soon as he died, all heck broke loose.(This is DeAnna’s interpretation of the lesson)

2 Kings 12:2

2 Chronicles 24:17

obesiance- acknowledgement of another’s superiority or importance (kissing butt-again, DeAnna’s interpretation)

left the house of the Lord 2 Chronicles 24:18

little personal conviction on Joash’s part. Joash needed personal dedication. He agreed to the covenant but he had no conviction. Joash was a follower not a leader.

Quote to remember: The original never tries to look like the copy.

“Personal Relationship” Good

“Leader Based Relationship” Not good

Quote to remember: It’s not the leader that causes things to happen. The people do.

Leader Based=ignorant spirit.

2. Neglecting the strongholds

2 Kings 12:3 high places not taken away

Modern high places=places where god isn’t sovreign

hidden hills, “those habits”, “practicing sins”, inappropriate relationships

New word from Bro. Lee: “shim”

Temptations

Plans; Don’t want the Lord messing with.

Are you willing to lower your dignity or your reputation to keep these habits up?

3. Surrendered the Sacred

2 Kings 12:17&18

gave holy “stuff” to Hazael

When faced with a crisis Joash doesn’t turn to God; he surrendered his sacred things.

*Probing questions*

When push comes to shove in your life, what gives way?

When the Budget Gets Tight, What Gets Cut?

When Something Exciting is happening on Sunday Morning or Sunday Evening, where do you find yourself?

When your daily schedule is tight what waits? Laundry or God?

There was also a shocking quote from a rather famous individual here, but I have to double check and make sure I get it right before I post it.

2 Kings 24:20 Zechariah was the son of Jehoiada

Joash killed the messenger.

God’s praise team is the church

(DeAnna’s addendum: In the Church of Christ, during worship everyone sings. We don’t have one choir sing and everyone listens. We also don’t have instrumental music. It’s commanded for us to sing. Read Col. 3:16 and Eph. 5:19)

That’s all for today. You can still be a part of this revival. It starts at 7:30PM (for those of you on CP time, come at 7:00). Directions are on West End‘s site. I look forward to seeing you there.

My thoughts on Marta’s new breeze card system

I like using the Breeze card.  It’s more secure than a paper transcard or a token.  I’ve registered my Breeze card with Marta so if I lose my card, no one else can use it.  Basically Marta is implementing a new system requiring people to use Breeze cards.

They plan to do away with tokens altogether.  It’s caused a bit of an uproar among the riders because most people really don’t understand how they work and don’t take the time to ask the station agents.

For the “official” information about the breeze cards, visit Marta‘s website.
